Australian Classic Wire Wheels Jaguar Australia - F Type

Phil Youl and his wife Gail

I have been a member of the JDCA for over 30 years. I purchased my first Jaguar, a 1963 Mk2 3.8 manual with overdrive, when I was just 19 years old. I only owned this car for a short period of time before selling it for a part deposit on a block of land in Terrey Hills NSW. I married Gail in 1970 and have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. We lived in Terrey Hills for 36 years. Gail and I then moved to a Unit in Narrabeen where we lived for 11 years. Unit life was great, allowing lots of overseas and caravan travels. I had purchased a Mk V in 1991, and then an E type in 2016. Having a caravan, 2 classic cars and our daily drives, and living in a unit created storage problems. It was time to find a larger property.

We moved to our current home in Lake Cathie, 11 km south of Port Macquarie, on the Mid North Coast in 2017. I was able to build my man cave shed, 132 square metres, just big enough!! to house the Jags and caravan. Since being here I purchased a 1966 S Type that I have done a complete restoration on and in 2025 purchased a 1958 XK150 DHC. I perform the mechanical work on my classic vehicles, having spent my working life in the family Steering and Suspension business, started by my father Eric, in 1955.

I have owned 13 Jaguars over the years, currently owning 4. It is obvious that I have a passion for all things Jaguar.

I have served as President of Port Macquarie Heritage Car Club over 3 terms. A term is a maximum of 2 consecutive years for the President. We currently have 100 members.  I now serve as assistant registrar.
