Description
A stunning motor car! Purchased by its current owner in August 1977, this car has been comprehensively restored and is only sold because the owner cannot drive her anymore. The car has matching numbers and was specified with an automatic transmission paired with the 3.8-litre inline-six. In addition to the option’s rarity, the automatic gearbox emphasizes the luxurious, grand touring side of the XK 150. A former Jaguar Club of NSW concours runner up, this car needs to find a new loving home!
The engine was fully rebuilt by Graeme Lord in 1988 and freshened up in 2025. All radiator hoses have been replaced recently. The automatic transmission was rebuilt by Ron Lawrence in 1999 and has since been serviced.
The XK150 has been fitted with a stainless exhaust system and has tail pipe protectors fitted. It is fitted with a modern fuel pump. The two 6-volt batteries have been replaced with a single 12-volt battery now located on the driver’s side and an unused 6-volt battery is on the passenger’s side. The 12-volt battery is fitted with an isolation switch and trickle charger (the XK150 has a positive earth).
For safety the driver and passenger seats are fitted with retractable seat belts with a compliance certificate in the car. This car would still make an excellent concours car with authenticity is as close to 100% as possible. The Jack is black, not red and it has an E-type rear vision mirror. There are also 5 standard width ex E-type wheels and tyres for general driving. The original grill has been chromed and fitted to the car.
The vehicle has 2 custom made suitcases to fit in the boot. There is a collection of books included and with this XK150 listed on page 135 of “The Jaguar in Australia”.
The specifications of the XK150 are as follows: • Despatched 18th August 1960. • Sold to R.J. Corbett 27th August 1960. • Appeared in Sydney in February 1966. • Sold to Dr Ian Bowmaker in April 1971. • Current owner purchased it in August 1977.
NOTE: the car had a different registration when the photos were taken.
