Jaguar and Club News

Web Administrator - Saturday, August 01, 2020
Welcome to the latest news update for JDCA members. Unfortunately the latest news item is once again the negative impact of Covid-19 and the devastating impact it has on our Calendar of social activities.

Unfortunately, the second largest gathering of classic vehicles on the NSW calendar, the All British Day at Kings School has been cancelled. Over many years  it has become our largest single gathering of Club Jaguars on our annual calendar.

Your Executive will discuss the various options for conducting a Concours or Show and Shine, possibly in the form of electronic means.

Covid-19 Restrictions currently impact on the type of events that can be conducted. Groups of more than 20 in public places are prohibited. Corporate events can be held in authorised Function Centres but in all cases a strict 4 square metre rule per person applies.

Grey Gum Cafe (Putty Road) midweek run set down for 6 August cannot now be held as a Club event. A rendezvous at McDonalds at McGraths Hill is out of the question and we no longer have a booking at the venue.

However, the Grey Gum cafe will be open on 6 August and it has a large number of outdoor tables under cover spread out over acreage. The social distancing rules can be observed as no table caters for more than 8 persons.

The cafe is approximately a one hour drive north of Windsor on the Putty Road and is well sign posted.

Persons who choose to go for a drive are welcome to drop into the cafe for lunch or a coffee from midday.

Please note if you choose to go for a drive on the day and you are travelling in a vehicle on conditional registration you will need to record the trip in your logbook as this cannot now be considered a Club event.

General Meeting, 18 August

The Strathfield Golf Club is a registered function centre and can host Corporate Events. The Club is prepared open on the 3rd Tuesday of each month for the JDCA.

There is a requirement for a minimum of 30 persons and the bistro area allowing for social distancing can cater for a maximum of 50. Tables will be arranged to ensure social distancing requirements are met.

It is proposed that Tuesday 18 August be used as a trial Corporate Event taking the form of an informal dinner from 6:00 pm followed by a very brief status report from the Executive on JDCA Club activities at 8:00 pm.

Please note that the social distancing rules prohibit mingling of patrons so tables will not be permitted to be moved to create larger groups.

If you wish to attend you will need to register on the website by C.O.B. Sunday 16 August.

We have been advised that Fiat motorkanas have been cancelled, however planning is continuing on conducting the JDCA hosting of the CSCA Supersprint round on 17 October. We must get the required number of entries to make the event financially feasible.

Christmas Party

A booking has been made with the Epping Club for Saturday 27 November. We are currently seeking registrations for this event as achieving a minimum numbers is important.

Please register early for the function. If Covid does necessitate cancellation a full refund will be made. This night has always been a popular event for catching up with fellow members and wishing your friends well for the ensuing 12 months.

All British Day, Register and Midweek Runs

Your Committee is seeking to organise events that meet the legal restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic on dates that are recorded in our calendar.

The impact of the pandemic is a developing crisis wherein decisions on organising or cancelling events must be made in short time frames. The pandemic may develop to a point where it is once again necessary to cancel all Club activity.

Please keep in touch through the various communication mechanisms the Club has employed to ensure you are kept up to date with the current situation at any given time.

Most of all I ask each one of you to do all that you can to ensure your own good health and seriously consider your own personal situation if venturing out whether it be in your Jaguar or not. There is no better time to be risk averse than the present.
