My special thanks to all the XK owners who made the effort, you are now part of XK folklore - remember the 28th October '07 - it was your day. The record is now Twenty Seven!

Particular thanks goes to the members from Forbes, Telegraph Point and Nelson Bay who came along.

CANBERRA WEEKEND TOUR - Organised by the XK Register

1st & 2nd December 2007

This tour will take all of Saturday, Sunday and beyond if desired.

Canberra really spoils the tourist for choice. With both admission free to over thirty attractions, and some eighteen attractions that require an entry charge.

Some Canberra attractions for you to consider... Page 1
- Page 2

Also, the main car event for that weekend is the Canberra - Terribly British Day on the Sunday 2nd December 2007 in the grounds of Old Parliament House, and a chance to meet up with the Jaguar Drivers Club Canberra.

It is proposed by the Canberra Club that both Clubs have dinner together on the Saturday night.

The accommodation and the dinner will be at the same venue, which is the Pavilion On Northbourne (242 Northbourne Avenue, Dickson. On the left hand side coming into Canberra - just past the Information Centre). Secure parking, but not undercover is available.

Room cost is $115.00 per room per night, also the same cost for the Sunday night. ALL bookings for this event and accommodation to be made through Ian Hutchinson. Book online HERE or download and fill out a booking form HERE

Please note: send payment for accommodation ONLY... payments for dinner on the Saturday night at the Pavilion are to be paid at the Pavilion or charged to your room!!!

We'll meet on the Saturday at Uncle Leo's Caltex Garage at Casula at 8.30am for a 9am departure!!!

Stay fit,

XK Hon. Sec Ian Hutchinson

PS. There's also ballooning available - two companies in operation.

XK Register Bowral Run

Sunday 29th October 2006

In perfect hood down weather an intrepid cross section of Club Members and their Jaguars set off for the Bradman Museum in Bowral. The XKs lead the way in numerical order, the youngest first, to meet up at the Stumps Cafe for coffee and carrot cake and general chit chat. Yvonne Ashfield, in her recently acquired XJ6 Series 2 in Primrose, arrived with her friend, John. This was their first run with the Club. Alistair, our Senior Guide, was in good form and spoke on Don Bradman and the social history of cricket. Don Lane was Senior Security Guard and Chief Orator during the tour, he gave some of us an insight into his Alloy XK120, one of only fifty seven RHD units manufactured and it is in superb condition. The Club moved off to the Chevalier School for lunch and a stroll around the Parkland. We observed a wood chopping competition, visited stalls with interesting bits and pieces and finally making our way to the Motorfest Show which was the equivalent to the Baulkham Hills Orange Blossom Festival. The 1934 Dodge Coupe with a Viper V10 engine somehow took my fancy from the engineering effort and financial point.

XK120 of Peter Taylor

C Type replica - David Reid

C Type replica

C Type replica

A particularly interesting XK120 of Peter Taylor, parked near the Moss Vale Road. It was almost standard with a 4.2 engine C Type head, three 2 carburettors, extractor, exhaust etc. At 3.00pm some of the Club went to Pam and Mike Downey's stately Olde World Home. Here we were treated to a sort of DIY afternoon tea. Mike provided the water but you had to boil it! The clear acrylic sprayed cakes were a delight. I didn't know he had such talent. Thanks mate, from all of us. The olde world charm of matured trees, shrubs and white gravel driveway showed off the XKs in the soft twilight. More XK talk from Mike, having just returned from England following his other passion, Military history. Don Lane spoke on the Alloy XK120 and David Reid on his replica C Type Jaguar made in Invercargill, New Zealand. If you own a Mark VII be very afraid! Thank you to the members who made the effort and the day so enjoyable. I have requested extra Championship Points for you all, because of the daylight saving and being Hutch's Hoods for the day.

Merry Christmas and a better New Year,

Hood Down Hutch and Richard Pike
